POSITION TITLE:   Credit and Collections Supervisor

SUMMARY
Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in conducting credit investigations and collecting delinquent accounts of customers by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Assigns workers responsibility for investigating and verifying financial status and reputation of prospective customers applying for credit, prepares documents to substantiate findings, and recommends rejection or approval of applications.
  • Establishes credit lines on customer accounts and handles special credit arrangements and deviations from standard terms of payment.
  • Reviews delinquent account records to determine which customers must be contacted for collection of overdue accounts.
  • Organizes collection work load according to degree and amount of delinquency and assigns accounts to workers for collection.
  • Writes letters or approves form letters for use in collection attempts.
  • Verifies accuracy of customer accounts.
  • Assists subordinates with collection activities in difficult cases.
  • Authorizes or refers severely delinquent customer accounts to Manager for outside collection agency or attorney activities.
  • Supervises and coordinates activities of clerical workers in related activities.
  • Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow.
  • Issues written and oral instructions.
  • Examines subordinates’ work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates.
  • Prepares composite reports from individual reports of subordinates.
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Compliance with applicable Company policies concerning maintaining a drug free workplace is required.
  • Compliance with all Company policies is required, including adherence to Company ISO 9001 Standards and compliance with Company Affirmative Action Plan and Company Safety procedures.
  • Incorporate the Standards of Excellence as outlined by TWMC (Pride, Desire, Teamwork, Attention to Detail and Follow-through) into daily activities in order to create a Total Quality environment through personal commitment to excellence.
  • Other functions as required (non-essential functions).

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directly supervises employees.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and four to ten years related experience and/or training; or Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
