POSITION TITLE: Marine Systems Integrator - Manager
SUMMARY:Reviews and evaluates technical specifications for content and determines the appropriate systems solutions to meet customer shipboard propulsion and control systems requirements. Is the senior technical contributor and responsible for developing the overall system design and coordinates the engineering efforts of all sub-systems.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Ensures the application of consistent marine standards in accordance with the specified technical requirements, regulatory bodies and prudent design practices.
- Integrates the diesel generator sets, electric thruster motor and main propulsion motor design into the machinery and ship control systems.
- Provides technical assistance to the Marine Systems Specialist, field sales, and customers in the selection, application, operation, and maintenance of TWMC products and develops technical specifications for external services and systems components.
- Provides support to procurement in preparing technical vendor RFQ requests.
- Determines the technical sufficiency of the customer specifications, researches gaps, and proposes solutions to application issues.
- Provides knowledge and technical support to TWMC departments on ABS, USCG, Lloyds, DNV and other marine regulatory agencies and requirements.
- Acts as the technical liaison for TWMC in matters of systems integration. Reviews, exercises design approval, and coordinates drawing submittals of TWMC to the shipyard/owner. Initiates and directs engineering coordination meetings on overall interfaces between sub-system components and shipyard supplied equipment.
- Assists Field Sales with technical customer calls, presentations and order closing.
- Attends or may conduct design reviews to ensure system integration compatibility.
- Incorporate the standards of excellence as outlined by TWMC (pride, desire, teamwork, attention to detail, follow-through) into daily activities in order to create a total quality environment through personal commitment to excellence.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and a minimum of six (6) to eight (8) years or related systems analysis and applications experience in the Marine or equivalent industry.
- Four (4) years experience in Project Management with demonstrated performance on major, highly complex engineering projects.
- Familiarity with electric ship propulsion systems.
- Ability to simplify complex issues in order to move forward.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Self motivated.
- Will be experienced in drive system applications, microprocessor applications, power systems analysis, power system and control system design.
- Has product knowledge for marine systems including generators, medium and low voltage switchboards, transformers, AC and DC drives, AC and DC motors, harmonic filters, motor control relays, breakers, and power system studies.
- Ability to travel worldwide and inspect propulsion systems on ships.
- Strong PC skills required, including use of standard MS Office applications.
- Strong working knowledge of Excel and MS Project, Primavera or similar scheduling application, desired.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
