POSITION TITLE: Software Engineer
SUMMARY
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead the area of software engineering as applied to the effort of creating new families of power electronic converters for marine and wind power applications. Communicate protocols, networked connectivity, software/hardware development and the creation of software innovations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and implement software (embedded, user interface, etc) to create or verify feature against specification requirements, testing and validation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve dependencies and deliver products as scheduled.
- Provide technical support to future customers and expertise to team members in the areas of software development, embedded systems, communication and interfacing.
- Create interface specifications and CAN interface software that communicates to a variety of components of the system.
- Write technical papers, patents, application notes for product definition and improvement.
- Provide leadership to co-workers in this area.
- Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Expertise in embedded software development, system architecture and communications.
- Expertise with Linux OS and any other RTOS.
- Experience with hardware building blocks FPGA's, processors and memories.
- Experience with CAN, TCP/IP and other communication protocols, graphics, C, C++, VHDL or Verilog.
- Strong knowledge of processor peripherals and interfacing.
- Troubleshooting and problem solving.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field; five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; or Master's degree (M. A.) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education preferred.
