Human Resource Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY
Assist employees with benefits enrollment and questions, manages all insurance billing, maintain employee database and file, and assist in other areas of Human Resources.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Help to administer various employees benefit programs such as group health, flexible spending accounts, dental, vision and life insurance, & tuition reimbursements
- Assist new employees as needed with ADP and benefit enrollment
- Maintain employee benefits and ensure benefit changes are entered appropriately in ADP system for payroll deduction
- Service as point of contact for benefits carriers, for reporting and enrollment issues.
- Serve as initial point of contact for employees, answering questions that do not require escalation
- Track employee’s children aging out of benefits. Inform HRBP and remove from the appropriate benefits
- Maintain Learning Management System and employee training records
- Create and distributes Human Resources reporting
- Update phone list for North America
- Maintain Human Resource policies and company handbook
- Benefits point of contact for vendors
- Create/maintain various reports, at the request of the HR Manager
- Invoice processing
- Process verifications of employment
- Coordinate/track various activities (benefits, wellness, parking passes, new hire orientation, anniversaries, posters, various Human Resources events and meetings)
- Event planning
- Ordering department supplies as needed
- Mail out mass letters/forms
- Perform other tasks as assigned
SCOPE, PURPOSE, & FREQUENCY OF CONTACTS
The position requires daily contact with all levels of TECO-Westinghouse internal customers.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and six years of high volume business experience; or
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Strong written and oral communication and computer skills
- People skills are essential for effectively interacting with customers
- Problem-solving skills
- Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel (Pivot tables & vlookups)
- Attention to detail
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion when responding to requests
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence. Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Identify a solution to a problem involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
General supervision will be provided. Must be a self-starter with the ability to work effectively and take ownership of assigned projects in a fast paced environment.
