POSITION SUMMARY

The Mechanical Design Engineering II assumes engineering responsibility for specific design and/or development phases of Company’s products; including design, verification, implementation, validation, and production support. Individuals in this role may be required to perform a combination of planning and directing activities concerned with development, application, and maintenance of quality system elements for the manufacture of products. The ability to create complex parametric and non-parametric 3D models, detailed product drawings, drawings revision, bills of material, detailed product design layouts, schematics and other documents necessary to build the product according to customer specifications and performance requirements is essential.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Creates and reviews parametric and non-parametric 3D models, detailed product drawings, drawing revisions, bill of materials, detailed product design layouts, schematics and other documents necessary to build the product in a timely manner as required by product build schedule.

  • Interfaces daily with engineering on technical issues about drawing requests, changes and application data. Creates and modify drawings in CAD and PDF.
  • Conducts calculations and analysis using closed-form methods, computer applications and fully functional FEA and other simulation tools. Develops some calculation tools for specific problems.
  • Supports sales department by providing technical input to negotiations of standard products.
  • Supports other departments and customers by addressing technical questions under general design guidelines.
  • Communicates with the factories in order to keep our product information up-to-date and fulfill customer requests.
  • Provides technical support and post-sales support on project business and Mod orders.
  • Develops product training materials and assist with developing team.
  • Supports QA and Test arenas with customers and provide certifications in QA.
  • Resolves of product questions and quality.
  • Providing technical support of both internal and external customers in the form of answering daily questions, drawings, performance data and curves, application assistance and part on our stock products.
  • Handles complaints and develop resolutions on product quality issues and QA.
  • Handles submittals for project orders and Mod orders.
  • Identify replacement components when there are supply chain issues or concerns.
  • Identify more cost effective and efficient components to replace current components.
  • Design within the compliance of UL and keep up to date with the new regulations.
  • Simulate structural and thermal elements.
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university in Engineering or Physical Science with one to three years of related work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • One to three years of experience using relevant CAD, PDM and/or simulation software.
  • One to three years of experience using applicable industry standards.
