POSITION SUMMARY

This position is for a hands-on engineer who will work in a team environment to utilize their skills and talents to plan and deploy or design and construct electrical and electromechanical equipment and systems to support testing of rotating machinery and related systems testing. They will develop improved test methods and equipment to reduce test time, data entry, and variation in results.

The applicant will learn test processes, update and improve work instructions with a visual emphasis, create training videos and train employees on instruments, tests, and paperwork. They’ll ensure we have the right equipment and PPE for these tests and make recommendations as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluates measured data and coordinates review of measured data and recommends design and/or testing modifications to achieve testing success.

  • Reviews and analyzes contract and quotation data to determine feasibility of proposed testing.
  • Designs test tooling and systems, including test fixtures, motor mounts, sensor mounting brackets and fasteners.
  • Plans and prepares technical reports, function documentation, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, memoranda, and instructional manuals as documentation development.
  • Maintain and upgrade systems and related equipment to correct errors, maintain operation, add features, or otherwise improve systems after implementation.
  • Recommend, develop, and schedule training for staff on in-house developed systems.
  • Develop and implement improved test processes, methods, and supporting systems for product development, evaluation, and validation testing.
  • Identify the PPE required for tests and understand why.
  • Identifies, develops, installs and maintains reliability systems for monitoring critical process machinery, such as test department motor generator sets, electrical systems (transformers, tap changers, thyristor power supplies, etc.) and manufacturing process equipment.
  • Work in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining a clean work area.
  • Arrives at the work station on time with minimal absences and adheres to all company policies. Regular attendance is an essential function of this position. Compliance with applicable Company policies concerning maintaining a drug free workplace is required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • A bachelor’s degree in a STEM related engineering discipline is preferred; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Hands-on experience with test equipment and data acquisition systems.
  • Experience working with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
  • Experience with vibration analysis of rotating machinery
  • Data analysis using advanced statistical analysis methods such as statistical process control (SPC).
  • Experience working in an industrial manufacturing & testing environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of electrical control systems, industrial sensors, and actuators: pressure, temperature, electrical power (AC/DC), LVDT, bridge, accelerometers, and motion/servo controllers.
