POSITION SUMMARY
This highly visible position has responsibilities to senior management, sales, and factory operations. It requires close, continuous communication and coordination with purchasing, project management, and sales teams, and with other TECO factories relative to materials flow and production related matters. This individual provides results-driven leadership to Planning groups, and has overall responsibility for material supply and consumption throughout the manufacturing cycle, beginning with scheduling, continuing with requisition, and ending with shipment of finished product. He or she directly or indirectly manages the personnel responsible for requisitioning, scheduling, and directing the flow of material within all manufacturing process at TECO-Westinghouse.
POSITION SUMMARY
- Ensures materials, supplies, and services are available to the production areas in sufficient quantities as needed to support uninterrupted production.
- Manages and directs the functions of the Production Planning Department, including developing and controlling engineering, drafting and manufacturing schedules for all orders with the goal of reducing cycle time.
- Develops and implements subcontracting plans if/when needed to support factory loading.
- Follows and expedites, as necessary, material requirements placed on other TECO factories for components and motors.
- Acts as a primary liaison with other TECO factories for production scheduling-related matters and assists with resolving any issues that may impact schedule.
- Provides purchasing with priorities for expediting production critical materials. Works with purchasing to reprioritize vendor schedules if/when necessary to minimize production delay or customer impact.
- Expedites and follows all pre-manufacturing information through order entry, design and drafting.
- In conjunction with the production manager, monitors and ensures on time performance of each process and each department. Holds production accountable for meeting scheduled commitments.
- Develops, maintains, and publishes operating policies, procedures, and practices consistent with company objectives.
- Maintains awareness of TECO factory loadings and anticipated capacity in order to establish and publish product lead times.
- Provides factory forecast data for monthly revenue planning, participates in regular meetings to review current project status and revenue plan, and to review actual results vs. plan.
- Maintains a strategic awareness of domestic and international availability of materials and of trends in material costs.
- Reviews and adjust material stock levels as required.
- Provides company-wide support in the form of a full service capability to deal with materials management problems and communicates same for staff level awareness and action.
- Works across departmental boundaries in order to solve problems and eliminate or minimize impacts to shipping schedules and/or related obligations to our customers.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in a business or technical discipline, plus five to seven years of production planning, materials management, project management, or similar experience. Minimum of three years in a management role. Ten or more years of experience in a similar role may be considered in lieu of education.
Extensive experience and capability using ERP systems is required. SAP experience is preferred. Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles & tools is desirable. A high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point, Project, and Outlook) is required.
