The Service BU manager prepares and Implements the approved sales strategy and manages the Service BU team including, DC Motor sales, warranty/technical support administrators, project administrators and field service technicians.   This role is responsible for controlling, administering and coordinating field service and inside sales activities as they relate to the Service Business Unit or associated product lines.  The Service BU Manager must maintain commercial control of all daily BU activities to insure sales and profit margin targets are achieved. He or she must also coordinate daily team activities to meet customer expectations for service and satisfaction.


  • Prepare service strategy.
  • Lead and supervise  DC motor sales
  • Maintain Westinghouse Nuclear , Marathon and Kennicott service business.
  • Lead and supervise Field Service Technicians in after sales support of customer issues.
  • Lead and supervise Customer Service Representatives in the daily efforts of sales support.
  • Make commercial determinations as to warranty validity and insure communications through Sales and Management teams regarding potential impact.
  • Develop, review and approve Service quotations to maintain profit margin and sales targets.
  • Seek growth opportunities for Service and present to executive management.
  • Assist engineering service operations when needed.
  • Meet with customer’s representatives concerning orders, on phone and in person.
  • Insure timely notification of Field Sales regarding shipping dates and date changes through the perspective field service or customer service representatives.
  • Assist in the coordination with Production Planning on all reschedules.
  • Meet with Customer Inspectors or Witnesses.
  • When required, make customer contacts related to warranty or other commercial issues.
  • Prepare and implement a continuous improvement plan to improve financial and customer service performance of the team.
  • Coordinate with Accounting and Q.A. departments as required relating to warranty or customer service performance.
  • Develop and implement training programs Field Service Technicians and Customer Service Representatives within the department.
  • Incorporate the Service Division Mission in everyday activities.


Directly supervises subordinate non-management employees.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


  • BA or BS in Engineering or equivalent experience or three to four years of related motor repair service and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Good communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer experience with proficient knowledge of Outlook, Excel and Word.
