Sr. Accountant I

POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Cost Analyst will collect and analyze complex financial information related to the organization’s costs, seeking ways to improve accuracy of budgets and forecasts and to decrease the cost of departments and projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensures GAAP principles and Corporate polices on cost accounting are adhered to

• Prepares reports and analysis to provide detailed cost information
• Develops cost standards, inventory valuation methodologies, and product line profit and loss statements
• Develop monthly and annual forecasts and plans
• Interface with the upper level management in discussing variances and developing forecasts and plans.
• Supports the management of the company’s product inventory
• Plans study and collects data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor
• Analyzes expenses and cost transactions; ensures that transactions are recorded accurately and assigned to the appropriate projects and departments
• Analyzes changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided, to determine effects on costs
• Analyzes actual manufacturing costs and prepares periodic report comparing standard costs to actual production costs
• Provides management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services
• Develops the analytics to build forecasts and projections

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field and at least 3 to 6 years of progressive experience
• Equivalent combination of education and experience

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
